Controversial Activism in Moritzburger Forest: Antispeciesism as Motivation
On Valentine’s Day, several hunting seats were destroyed in Moritzburger Forest, sparking attention and raising questions about the motives behind the act. A group has taken responsibility for the actions and provided insights into their motivations.
The Night of Destruction
One of the targeted locations was the Wettiner Forest, where the hunting seats were attacked during the night of February 14th. Graffiti found at the scene suggests the involvement of Animal Liberation Front (ALF), a prominent animal rights activist group.
“The Animal Liberation Front’s involvement is anticipated due to the graffiti left behind, which bears their signature style,” said the hunters, who are now facing the consequences of the damages.
The Motives of the Activists
While some individuals are left to deal with the aftermath of their destroyed hunting seats, there is another group stepping forward to explain their noble intentions. These individuals identify themselves as part of the autonomous and anarchist organization “Animal Liberation Front” (ALF). In a recent statement published on Indymedia.org, the activists revealed their motivations behind the acts.
“We took this action to raise awareness about the oppressive nature of hunting and to challenge the existing speciesist ideologies deeply rooted in society,” expressed the ALF in their public statement.
It is worth noting that Indymedia.org is considered the primary “information and propaganda medium for the far-left extremist scene in the German-speaking region” according to the current report by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Furthermore, Sächsische.de has obtained another letter believed to be authored by the activists.
