Narrows Escape Gap in Match Against Regionalliga Cottbus
In an exciting match between FC Erzgebirge Aue and Energie Cottbus, the teams faced off in the large Erzgebirgsstadion. However, due to personnel problems on the Cottbus side, the length of the game was shortened from the initially planned four sets of 45 minutes to 135 minutes.
Cottbus Struggles with Personnel Issues
Trainer Pelé Wollitz of Energie Cottbus currently faces a shortage of available players. Perhaps to compensate, Cottbus has brought back forward Maximilian Pronichev, who had previously been signed with FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt in the first half of the current season. The match, unfortunately, will be played without spectators and will be streamed live on each team’s respective YouTube channels starting at 12:00 PM.
Aue Demonstrates Flexibility and Strength
On the other hand, FC Erzgebirge Aue has showcased their flexibility and skill during their training sessions and test matches. In their recent warm-up game against Meuselwitz, the Auer team dominated with an impressive 6-0 victory. This match against Energie Cottbus serves as their third test game within a week, following previous matches against Hertha BSC and Meuselwitz. The sporting director of FC Erzgebirge Aue, Matthias Heidrich, expressed the team’s goal of providing all players in their squad the opportunity to play a full 90 minutes against Cottbus.
Upcoming Schedule and Aue’s Position in the League
The team’s next official match is set to take place on January 19th against Rot-Weiß Essen. Meanwhile, FC Erzgebirge Aue currently occupies the 11th position in the 3. Liga table with 28 points after 20 matches.
“Wir wollen gegen Cottbus allen Spielern aus unserem Kader nochmals die Möglichkeit geben, über 90 Minuten zu gehen.” – Matthias Heidrich, Sport-Geschäftsführer FC Erzgebirge Aue
